Update–Crush Of The Week: Andy Whitfield

UPDATE: The Pearl Mic staff was saddened to hear on the news this morning that Andy Whitfield died Sunday in his hometown Australia.  His wife confirmed his passing in a statement, “On a beautiful sunny Sydney morning, surrounded by his family, in the arms of his love wife, our beautiful young warrior Andy Whitfield lost his 18-month battle with lymphoma cancer … he passed peacefully surrounded by love. Thank you to all his fans whose love and support have helped carry him to this point. He will be remembered as the inspiring, courageous and gentle man, father and husband he was.”

To wake up everyday to handsomeness like this is heaven on earth but I digress…

This British babe is our Crush of the Week not only because he cut cretins up as Spartacus on the Starz series Spartacus: Blood and Sand, but he is a warrior in his own right as he is currently battling non-hodgkin lymphoma (cancer). In order for Andy to focus on his treatments and recovery, he had to resign from the series. He even supported Starz production with re-casting his role (according to EW.com, Liam McIntyre will be the new Spartacus).

Andy, you will be missed on Spartacus. However, we believe that there will be plenty of opportunities waiting for you when you get better. We are praying for you and rooting for a quick recovery.
